First off: MAC
Second: The teacher education discount works only for the person with a valid education credential and must be shown at the time of purchase. Each city/state or country has their own discount percentage.

Third: a Macbook is definitely a good value for your money. It comes with all programs that are all working and not trial editions like the ones on a PC. You don’t have to spend a lot of extra money on virus softwares and protection, and if you really want to run WINDOWS, you could with Parallels software but of course you’ll have to buy your Windows OS as well.

Simply put, macs JUST WORK without questioning you “the user” about things you don’t even know… Like “do you like to run this program? Cancel or allow?”

But there are also many good things about PC… They’re just not as good as a mac.

Rating: ***** (5 Stars)

Good luck… Or should I say, congratulations on your MAC purchase.

What did you do today that was fun?

Today my husband and I spent all afternoon together at the bookstore. I got to buy more books that I could carry. The manager of the bookstore saw me and came over to chat. He bought us coffee and then he gave me a huge discount, larger than the standard teacher discount, on all my books due to the number of supplementary books I buy from him during the school year for my teachers.

More books than I could carry! Yippee!

What did you do that was fun today?

But I get that pretty regularly ay my spouse’s mom’s paperback exchange store. I find books I like, take them home, bring them back when I’m done, and when I cull my shelves, bring the books to her. WHile I love it, it’s not out of the ordinary for me.

But I DID do something new and diffferent today.

I took some items of antique jewelry to a store that specializes in estate jewelry, and had a preliminary evaluation made. I bought a big box of mixed items at a “clear out our late parent’s house” some 25 or 30 years ago, and didn’t even know that these items were there—didn’t even find them until much later. I can’t imagine the adult kids who were holding the yard sale knew what was in the bottom. I bought the box because it had terrific costuming stuff in it—which I still have. Turns out that I have a small treasure trove—stickpins I’d assumed were semi-precious have real diamonds. The string of pearls has a diamond clasp. The gaudy ring is emeralds and diamonds. The pendent is imperial jade, platinum and diamonds. I still don’t know how much the whole lot is worth—but it’s now in a safe deposit box until I can get further evaluation done. Seriously, I knew some of the pieces were pretty good—but not THAT good! She said something like “Top of the line items,” and “I would be VERY interested in selling these pieces for you, if you decide to do that.” So I had an unexpected windfall, and a store full of women coming over to oooh and ahhhh over my jewelry!

Is there a way to get discounts on books as a teacher or tutor?

I spend a lot of money on books that are both for my own personal interest and my interests as a tutor; for example, I bought copies of “A Walk in the Woods” and “Bird by Bird” this past summer because they were required readings for a language arts class at the high school where students that I help tutor attend.

The cost of these books really does add up, and as a college student who scrounges for rent and groceries every month, I can’t really afford many other books for my own personal interest, nor can I afford right now to fall behind in these other books for tutoring because I wouldn’t get as many calls for tutoring if I didn’t have/read the books, myself.

I also tutor German, and dictionaries can be rather expensive.

Is there a way that I might be able to get assistance in paying for some books like this? I don’t care where I’d have to buy the books from (I use half.com and Amazon because they’re cheapest), but the combined costs are pretty killer as things are. Not to mention if I got assistance, I’d be able to pick up more stuff to do my own research with…

idownload answers:

Teachers usually get discounts at like Borders or Barnes & Nobles at certain times of the month or specific days during a week. Other bookstores might have the same discounts too. I would definitely check out your local bookstores in addition to half.com or the local library.

Do teachers need a Mac Book?

I want to get into teaching and am already substituting. I noticed the schools I substituted at use Mac computers and Mac Books but I also noticed that some teachers who have their laptops in their classrooms use Mac Books.

Is it required that teachers have Mac Books to teach certain lessons, programs, etc? Do you get a discount for a Mac Book if you’re a teacher?

idownload answers:

I have a macbook.

It was provided to me by the school. If I were to leave or transfer, I must give it to them to give to my replacement. (ive been there 19 years- so I dont plan on leaving)

Do I need it? No. I could use my dell laptop I have at home… Why then is it so prevalent in education? Apple has focused on the education market for years – yes we do get discounts.. The school gets discounts for purchasing in bulk and regardless of what sam says… The apple store for education gives about 50 bucks off a new macbook to teachers.

There are *some* programs that are mac only – but there is always a windows equivalent.

Finally – yes, I must have some sort of computer – my district takes computerized rollkeeping and grademarking.

idownload answers:

Well for number one you take 120 for the people and times that by .45 b/c you have to make it into percents which is out of one hundred. Then you will find the answer. And number three you take 28.95 time .20 for the discount and then take your answer and subtract it from 28.95
